FRONT ROW | BEHIND THE SCENES
Posted on 28 June 2016
The first show that I ever held turned the catwalk back to front and featured the audience sitting in the dressing room watching a single model being dressed and undressed. The catwalk immediately became redundant and the routine of dressing and undressing ritualised into the MATERIALBYPRODUCT salon show experience. What quickly followed was direct-to-client sales, which re-engineered my business model away from the conventions of trading to focusing the experience on you.
Just this month I took this client focussed engagement one step further and gave some of my favourite patrons (fancy word for people who place their orders directly at the House) a front row seat behind the scenes of MATERIALBYPRODUCT SS17 campaign creation. The patrons arrived at Sean Godsell’s iconic RMIT Design Hub in their favourite MBP pieces and were woven into the image making as well as got a rare behind the scenes experience of the sometimes fast, sometimes slow, sometimes magic and sometime monotonous image making process.
I very much look forward to revealing the results.
